My family lived in Lefrak City (in Queens, New York) for almost 10 years during the 80's. In that time, our apartment was the site of a number of sightings of a ghost-like figure of a man. None of us knew who he was, but all of us saw him on many occasions. He wore a dark blue jump suit (that looked like a service station attendants uniform). Lefrak City supposedly was built over what had been army barracks at one time. Our 'ghost' who looked somewhat like the actor David Hedison (of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea fame and also the original movie version of the Fly), never frightened us by his actions. He always wandered into rooms seeming as shcoked to see us as we were to see him. My dad, never a believer in ghosts, also saw our visitor. We grew to accept him and tried not to be too startled when he appeared. The strangest sighting of him came one night when my sister and I were sitting in her room playing cards. We both saw him at the same time. My dad was in ! the living room watching TV, mom was asleep and my other sister was in the bathroom that was attached to the room my sister Ellen and I were in. Both Ellen's and my head snapped towards the doorway as 'David' started walking in. When he saw us look towards him, he turned and headed back down the hall. This time I ran towards the door. I wanted to make certain that our eyes were not having some mass delusion. My dad and mom were both where they were supposed to be. Dad had not seen anything and Mom was asleep. We moved from Lefrak City in 1989. We now live in three different homes and none of u has ever seen David or anything like him since. I often wonder if the tenants who took our old apartment have ever seen our old friend. I don't know if there is any dramatic story that would explain the existance of our visitor. But we all know what we saw. We kind of felt bad for David since he seemed to be as shocked by our presence as we were by his. He never was menacing! or frightening to any of us. But we all still remember him and the way he moved about our home. I am curious as to whether or not anyone else has had a similar experience. How it changed my life:I don't know if this situation changed my or my family's life in any particular way. I do know that we all firmly believe that we were seeing something or someone in our apartment. The fact that none of us have seen anything since we moved tells me that we were not hallucinating. We kind of sympathized with 'David' since he appeared lost.
