I wouldlike to get some information about my Grandmothers death. It was April 12, 1952 and there were 4 of them. My grandmother and 3 sailors,
they were all out having a great time as you would expect with a crew of early twentys.
They were on thier way home in Oxnard, CA on highway 1 somehow they had the unfortunate mishap of meeting a truck head on. It was late at night (I'm not sure of the time)My Grandmother(Thelma Winchester-Bingham) was the only one that ran for help. When help came and everyone made it to the hospital, Thelma was declared dead on arrival due to internal injuries.
The 3 men she was with only sustained minor cuts and abraisions.
My family has long to hear some information from those sailors. No one more than my mother who was only 19 months old at the time of her mothers death! She sadly never knew what it was like to have a mother. She craweled in the casket thinking that Thelma was sleeping. I feel so bad for her. She never had the guidance that most of us strive from. She was raised by her grandparents until she was 18 and her grandmother was taken by bone marrow cancer. By then She was pregnant with me and already had my brother. (we are 18 months apart)I really want to help my mom to get some information about her mother. We have very little information even though it made front page news. If you have information please contact me at kelsvfr@aol.com.
I really want my mom to be happy. She will be turning 54 on Sept 29, 1999.
It is time to close this.
