Well, maybe it's similar to what I used to do for my cats and I would put little ornaments and things underneath the tree to keep them from messing with the tree itself. Same for my kiddos they have little animated things that they are allowed to touch underneath the tree and they don't mess with what's on the tree except, the lower branches where they are allowed to mess with the ornaments that say or do something ![]() |

I really can`t keep da kitties in one room. Our house has been slightly renovated and we have no doors except for my dads room and the bathroom of course. But you have given me an idea...Although I hate to doit..Maybe we could get one of those expandable doors that you attactch to the sides of the entrance to the room!...That way I could keep them away from the tree room. Thats a thought! Thanks! ![]() |

Okay, keeks did you take over my keyboard lol!! That sentence absolutely made no sense that I typed lol!! It should have said give them their own tree to play with and put bells and things like that on it!! My kitties never climbed in my tree lol but, I taught them early that they had things they were allowed to touch and things they weren't. Yes they even had their own tree one year lol. It's usually the novelty of new that gets them. I don't put garland or anything other than lights on the "big tree" and on the little tree I put garland and things that hang down. It's sorta like with kids which, in essence they are You have to keep their minds off the big prize:=P ![]() |

I was just gonna say lock em in the attic for the next 30 days! j/k…I had to put my tree in a room where the cats were not allowed in when I lived w/a girl who had a cat…if you have any rooms you can close the door to to keep your cats out, that would be my suggestion. ![]() |

See they are already going for the stuffed toys:=P Just keep a few stuffed things underneath the Christmas tree and they should mess with those and not the big stuff. Incidentaly, I too have some old ornaments and I was terrified the little cats would break them but, the trick of putting things underneath the tree and giving them their own worked for me lol. Just remember like people they too have their own personalities ![]() |

Hmmm I really don't know, as we've never had a problem with our cats (Past/current) having issues with the trees. We did have to spend a few christmas's booby-trapping the tree from the dog though. But I don't think that would work so well for a cat. ![]() |

None of my cats ever bothered with the trees but one of my dogs did Kiki....I had to stand it inside a baby pen (I dont know what you call them over there)and because she couldn't fit through the slats of the pen, it was safe and sound...I have no idea how you will keep the cats out though lol...little imps hehehehee..good luck! ![]() |

Oh, another thing.....if you have any small glass ornaments or bulbs, watch the cats closely. A few years ago, our cat got one off the tree and bit down on it. It broke in his mouth and scared me half to death. Luckily, he wasn't hurt but it was scary. ![]() |

put nothing on the lower quarter of the tree... and use a nice strong peice of string (kite string, fishing line) and attach it to the roof.. this will prevent knock over (we've got a similar issue.. but ours is a 12 month old little girl terror) ![]() |

My cats used to love to climb the tree and throw the ornaments off. They go for the glass/breakable ones.. they leave the unbreakable ones in the tree.. darn cats.. anyway we just used plastic ornaments after that, nothing gets broken, and the tree still looks good. Oh and also easy to pick up if they throw off the ornaments again. ![]() |

I think it is the smell of a real tree that makes them want to get in it, especially if they are inside kitties only, maybe if you could mask the smell somehow that might help. ![]() |

Place this trap around your christmas tree . Put pieces of scotch tape all around the tree. Cats cant stand it when things stick to them . After they get like ten pieces of tape stuck on their paws , trust me , they will stay away from your tree . Razzy aka ![]() |
