Our school is going to merge with another. We’ll be officially one school next September.
The new intake will be going to the other building (because of building works to take place here) and the parents’ day/evening was held there. Some parents felt it was important to view our building too because eventually all the pupils will be here.
With me so far?
Ok, so parents’ day was organised for today. I was aware of this but forgotten until I walked into our school building (I work part time therefore start later). I was met by two pupils from the other school, one of whom asked me, “Are you a parent?” I replied, “No, I work here,” and in that split second I thought, that’s a lie, I am a parent but not a parent of future pupil at our school. Still it seemed weird to say that even though I was answering their question in the correct context.
