Red Light falling out of Sky

It should be noted that this is merely a retelling of a firsthand account from my ex's big brother. It was a great story, so I decided you guys needed to hear it.

Anyways, while I was visiting my then-girlfriend at her house just outside of Pana, IL, her brother told me of something he had seen while staring at the sky one night.

Their family lives on a large farm, so as you may imagine there is lots of cornfields around that allow you to see in every direction for quite a distance, not to mention a very clear view of the night sky. One night, this guy, we'll call him Josh, was out looking for any sattelites that may have been passing overhead. After a while, a radiant (not to be confused with merely "bright") red light appeared at about a 70 degree elevation and began to slowly descend. Josh figured at this point that it was probably some sort of probe/sattelite burning up in the atmosphere, so he sat back to enjoy the show. Well, the thing descended to the horizon eventually after about 5-10 minutes and as it reached the horizon, it slowed then began to move sideways across the horizon. It then picked up speed and went across the horizon and out of sight within about 3-5 minutes. It should be noted that an airplane would not exhibit the sort of speed, radiancy or range that the object possesed.

How it changed my life:

It gave me a cool story to tell on dark nights.

Date: 9/30/1999 2:00:00 PM    My brothers and I saw something very much like this. We were walking home at about 7:30 or 8pm, you know just when it starts to turn dark. We saw this bright redish-orange ball in the sky. It sort of looked like a full moon but was much bigger, but smaller than the sun. It even "fit" the sky like a full moon would. This circle was gliding downward at an angle. The sight lasted for about five minutes. It was unlike anything we had ever seen, and to this day, (25 yrs later) neither of us can explain what the heck that was. When it finally glided out of sight..behind trees, we all looked at each other with big eyes and in silence. Then we just flat "broke" out to running as fast as we could, never looking back. This happened in a very small town in Mississippi. We all knew it wasn't a hallucination or anything like that, because we all saw it! Not to brag, but all three of us are fairly bright and smart people. However this is something that we still can't explain. I'm not sure if anyone else saw it, but, we were almost afraid to ask. Before you start with the "It could have been", I'll tell you now, it wasn't a weather ballon or anything like that. This was clearly something we had or probably will never see again.

I mean it's one thing to hear stories about this sort of thing, but to be him! The one that actually witnessed it. I have said this before and I'll say it again, although I have never witnessed anything like this I will not say it is impossible. I think it would be hypocritical of any of us to assume that we are alone in the vastness of the universe. Ki
