Civil War era graveyard

This is just a general interest tale about, for lack of a better word, a haunting. I live in Florida, and given the type of climate and terrain it is down here, things get lost quickly if not cared for. Graveyards are especially vulnerable to this. One such place is about five miles outside of Waldo, through a fairly dense stretch of forest. I found this cemetery while I was a dorr-to-door poll taker. My partner and I got lost and ended up on an overgrown path. We turned around and went back to work, but the road itself stuck in my head. A few days later, I returned by myself to check the area out. Thank heavens for broad daylight. The cemetery itself is a small affair, not even a half-acre in size, and the oldest stone I could I.D. was dated 1875. Nothing really unusual except for a VERY small stone hut. I believe it is a crypt, fairly weathered considering it's seclusion. I remained there for about an hour just snooping, and left. Nothing at all yet, but when I returned about two weeks later with a friend, things went off with a bang. Now, you have to understand this: I'm 23, and I still have a bit of that childhood pirate in me. We arrived at the cemetery at 10 o'clock at night. Clouds. No light except my cars headlights. No protection with the excpetion of a sword I've had for years and years. Good piece of work for it's age(c.1860 japanese ishi sword). The INSTANT we rolled within 20 feet of the place, a tightness not unlike a vise hit my heart. It was fear. Perfectley understandable, right? Wrong. My friend appartenlty felt it too, because he started telling me to go home. yeah, and miss a true fright? I exited the car(he stayed in), and walked around. now, autumn in Florida is WARM, not like other states(except California). So when I began to see my breath, I got even more skittish. I drew the sword, and continued snooping. I got within ten feet of the crypt, and a very small voice said "leave". I'm no stranger to ghosts of any sort. I've believed in them all my life, and I've bumped heads with three physically(cold air, moving objects, voices from nowhere, lost moments)or a close approximation thereof. I adavnced about another two feet, and was physically pushed back several feet. I landed on my ass and stayed there all of five seconds. I got up and advanced again. I paid for this with another push that was hard enough for me to roll into a headstone and bust up my nose. I should have left at that point, but I was too angry to. I advanced one more time, muttering to myself about payback. The voice popped up behind me with a very terse sentence: "leave now. leave now. leave or stay." Suffice it to say I had a very hard time turning around. I'm a big guy, six foot three, work out, tae kwon doe, and basic kenjitsu and kendo training. Nothing there to hit except air. So I stumbled back to the car tail between my legs. My friend had watched to whole thing, and he only started talking on the way back into town. He swore he'd never go anywhere at night with me again. it's almost 2000, and I've not been back there.

How it changed my life:

This taught me to be slightly more cautious in my snooping. Plus, I take along lights, and multiple friends. No point in getting stuck alone with something you can't see, right?

Date: 9/30/1999 2:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 685    Absolutely wonderful story. You are definetly the bravest and, no offense, dumbest person I have ever heard of. What you did takes a lot of guts. Very good.
Date: 9/30/1999 8:12:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 679    As to the guts of the action, I already had a bloody nose. I got my fur ruffled, so I wasn't really thinking straight. And as to the "not so real" comment, believe what you will. I still have the scar.
Date: 9/30/1999 9:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 710    Very spooky story. Only you must be a brave man to be out at 1000 at night at the grave yard. What i dont understand is why you took the sword with you and why you got out it being dark and all? I donot believe i would be wondering around any grave sites late at night must less one that is secluded from every thing. If you soo called got a bloody nose, How did you explain that to your friends that wasent with you and did they believe this? I dont know if i do or not. Very skeptical.
Date: 10/1/1999 8:58:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 679    To the above comment: My friend stayed in the car, with the engine running. I left the lights on so I wouldn't stumble around in COMPLETE darkness. And why do I carry a sword? I'm not a big fan of guns. I hate them, so a sword is the next best thing. And how did I explain my nose? My friend saw the whole thing. He asked if I had been fooling with him, and the look I gave him shut him up.
Date: 10/6/1999 12:47:00 PM    Excellent story! It gave me goosebumps!
Date: 9/7/2000 1:15:00 PM    Interesting story, but not entirely believable. I mean, the guy can't even spell or write a proper sentence.
