Our home was on a main busy street with a gas station right next door to us. I was 14 at the time and was always in charge of babysitting my little brother's which were 3 and 5 at the time. The gas station attendants were friends of my older brother so I would go over and visit with them. When I did this I would make it clear to my little brother's that they were not to come to the station because it was such a busy street and I didn't want them to get hurt. This one night they walked over to the station anyway, their little eyes bugged out, saying they heard weird noises in the house and that someone was in there. One of my brother's buddy's came back to the house with us and checked the entire property in and out (our house was in the middle of a 1/4 acre). Then the buddy sat down to play in the living room with my little brother's while I went to the bathroom. Our bathroom was extremely small, it barely fit a claw leg tub, pedastal sink, toilet and water heater, also the only little window was painted and sealed shut and couldn't be opened. As I was washing my hands I heard a distinctive whistle carried out in 4 distinctive notes right in this little room that was completely sealed from the rest of the house. I flew out of there! In the living room the 3 were still playing oblivious to what I had just heard. The buddy checked the bathroom, and said it was impossible for anyone else to be in there with me. To this day I don't know what the whistles were about or from who, and no solution to what my little brother's heard either. I didn't believe my brother's that they heard things until I heard what I heard in the bathroom, then I didn't doubt them at all. To this day (I am 50 now) I can clearly hear the whistling, I can even imitate the tune. It's still eery to me. How it changed my life:It just scared the daylights out of me. I don't like not being able to explain things. Especially when there's supposed to be an explanation for everything according to logistics.
