On 16 April 1973 in the town of Point Pleasant, NJ, my mother (Mrs. Erma P. Magnussen Jocher) was a victim of vehicular homicide, and to this date the case has never been solved. The two available witness were children moving in a car in the opposite direction. There was also a white car following the green pickup truck that killed my mother but the people never came forward. Both my sister and I have talked to the authorities over the years, always leading to a dead end. Most recently (April 1998) my sister called the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office because there was an annoucement made that a new technique for unsolved murders was available. She explained the unsolved homicide and asked to be called back one way or the other to let us know if infact my mother's case could be reopened. To this date, my sister has not heard a word from the prosecutor's office. Both of us never seemed to get over the the way my mother died and all the stumbling blocks that seemed to appear each time we tried to get to the bottom of it. That is why I am asking you to help us---I realize that this happened quite some time ago, but to us it really doesn't seem that long. Anything you can uncover would be GREATLY APPRECIATED...Please let me know if you need further details... Thankyou Again. How it changed my life:Our mother would never be here to see her grandchildren, but most of all there is an emptiness that cannot be explained when someone who was not ill,in good health, and a nice person to be run down on the street in a small town and nothing could be turned up. Both my sister and I were 21 and 22 years of age when I mother was run down--at times we feel like orphans to be parentless at such a young age. We both have never gotten over the way my mother was killed.
